Prospective au pairs wanting to travel to France as au pair must take into consideration the following:
Age

• Au pairs are generally aged 18-30

Salary (Pocket money) 

• On average an au pair can expect to earn between  180-250 euro/month

Number of hours to work and days off

• France au pairs usually work between 25-35 hrs/week and usually get 2 days off per week

Visas

• No visa requirements for aupairing in France for EU nationals
• Visa and work permission requirements for non EU nationals

Duration of stay

• EU nationals- no time limit
• Non EU nationals, there is a time limit depending on the country of provenience. Usually, 1 year.

Language requirements

•  The au pair must have a good understanding of French, the national language.

 

Health Insurance

• There are obligations for the au pair to take out travel and health insurance, but it is highly advisable to do so to ensure cover in the event of an emergency

Travel costs:

• The au pairs must pay for their own travel costs to France
